After an initial discussion in a closed and fairly stuffy conference room, we joined Leeway House residents in their common area for several games of bingo underneath an enormous skylight. Becky began by giving the residents an opportunity to speak. Most of them were eager to do so. They were universally effusive in their praise for the Leeway House and its staff. Several stressed that there needs to be more centers like it available to the people of Connecticut (not to mention the rest of the United States). One man said that he had to travel across the state to reach the Leeway House, since there is nothing remotely comparable near where he lives. From their speeches, it was shocking to learn how long many of these residents have lived with AIDS. Three or four I kind of have to agree with BostonGirl. I can’t count how many times I’ve fallen head over heels for women guitarists. It’s just so natural to do so when you see the amazing way they can handle the most phallic instrument. I’ve been waiting for the next book in the 1632 series to come out for a long time. This alternate history series set in Europe during the 100-years war is one of the best examples of a fully-realized alternate version of history.
